In Osaka, Chloé Jafé spent extended periods in the district of Nishinari, where she met Jiro. Their encounter led the two of them to explore the neighbourhood together, with Jafé photographing the area and its residents: a population made up largely of men over sixty, homeless people, transvestites and retired gangsters. Through this work, Jafé seeks to give visibility to an overlooked and silenced corner of Japan.
How I met Jiro is the third chapter of Chloé Jafé’s trilogy SAKASA and comes in a black box.
