In each country that Chow and Lin travelled to they photographed the exact amount of food that someone who is living on the poverty line can buy. The execution is both simple and brilliant. All the food is bought at local markets and photographed on the backdrop of that day’s newspaper. The book presents itself as a giant flipbook in which the photos of Chow and Lin appear as frozen moments of abstraction in a stop motion film. The half pages in the book reveal relevant sociological and economical information and graphs.
